Nine employees of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority have already been infected with coronavirus, general manager Undersecretary Jojo Garcia said on Sunday.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Garcia said the MMDA is operating with a limited number of personnel in light of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases within the agency.

“Ang huling numero nakuha ko ay nasa nine. Of course, may iba naman na pa-recover na. May iba naman na asymptomatic lang. Meron na-ospital pero full recovery na rin po,” he said.

Earlier, MMDA chair Danilo Lim ordered the suspension of work from July 9 and 10 to give way to the complete sanitation and disinfection of all their offices and adjacent premises.

This was after four MMDA personnel tested positive for COVID-19. The offices of the MMDA personnel who tested positive for COVID-19 have already been placed on lockdown and sanitized.

Contact tracing was made and people who had close encounter with them were ordered to strictly comply with the 14-day quarantine period and were subjected to swab tests.

Other employees who tested positive in the rapid test were made to undergo swab test and quarantine according to protocol. —LBG, GMA News
