Speaking, answering calls no longer allowed inside MRT3 trains

Speaking and answering phone calls are no longer allowed inside the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3), its management announced Monday.

In an advisory, the MRT3 said the new guidelines are to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among commuters.

"Upang maiwasan ang posibleng pagkalat at pagkahawa ng virus sa mga commuters, ipinagbabawal na ang pagsagot ng tawag sa cellphone ng mga pasahero at pagsasalita sa loob ng tren," it said.

The MRT resumed operations, albeit on a limited basis, on Monday morning after a five-day suspension as hundreds of its personnel tested positive for the coronavirus.

Last week, the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), the private operator of Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT1), has likewise announced it is prohibiting its passengers from talking inside the trains to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/KBK, GMA News
