The number of active COVID-19 cases in Parañaque City has dropped to just below 500 in three weeks, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said on Saturday.

"Kung makikita natin 'yung data po sa aming siyudad, for the past three weeks pababa po siya eh. Ito pong kahapon (Friday) 'yung latest na record ng aming City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), nag-break na po kami ng less than 500," Olivarez, who also chairs the Metro Manila Council, said at the Laging Handa public briefing.

As of September 18, Parañaque City recorded a total of 497 active cases out of the total 5,684 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, the number of patients who have recovered are at 5,049, while a total of 138 have died.

"Meron na po kaming kulang-kulang na 1,000 isolation facilities, at meron din po kaming isolation facilities para po sa probable at suspect," Olivarez said.

He added that Parañaque City acquired container vans that were converted into COVID-19 quarantine facilities.

"Malaking bagay po ito para maalis po natin 'yun pong ating mga positive, probable suspects sa community at hindi sila makahawa sa kanilang komunidad," he said.

As of the moment, there are 150 contact tracing teams deployed in Parañaque's 16 barangays, he added.
