NCRPO chief Danao to rogue cops: The door is open for you to leave

By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA News

Newly-installed Acting National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao on Wednesday gave a stern warning against erring police officers, especially those engaged in illegal drug activities.

Danao formally assumed his post as NCRPO chief during a change of command ceremony in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. He replaced Police General Debold Sinas who now sits as the chief of the Philippine National Police.

In his assumption speech, Danao said he would immediately implement the Oplan Litis among rogue police officers.

"This has been my program since day one that I became commander at my own level. Oplan Litis means litisin ang tiwalag at scalawag na miyembro ng hanay ng ating kauplisan. I will be very strict on that," Danao said.

"I expect all members of the Philippine National Police, especially here in NCRPO, would tow the line. Nakikiusap ako sa inyo, let us put a stop especially on the anti-illegal drugs. Kung mayroon mang paisa-isa pa sa inyo na medyo nawawalay ng landas, ngayon pa lang sinasabihan ko na kayo, the door is always open for you to leave," Danao added.

Danao advised cops to always remember President Rodrigo Duterte's campaign against illegal drugs as well as the efforts against criminality and corruption.

"We can only do that with devotion and hard work towards our sworn duty which is to serve and protect our community," Danao said.

"I rather believe that the discipline is properly embedded in the hearts and minds of our people here in NCRPO..." he added.

Meanwhile, Danao also said police visibility across Metro Manila would be strengthened to assure the public that they are safe and well-protected against lawless elements.

"Let us flag the streets of Metro Manila with policemen in order to ensure the safety and security of our constituents," Danao said.

"We can only do that if we will properly account our personnel," he added. — RSJ, GMA News
