Vico Sotto called out for lack of aid at flood-hit barangay in Pasig

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto has been called out as residents of of Santolan, Pasig said they had yet to receive any assistance after floods caused by Typhoon Ulysses damaged their houses and livelihood.

According to Vonne Aquino’s report on “24 Oras,” one resident was almost emotional when she said the floods have already subsided but they have yet to receive aid from the city.

“Kay mayor, wala pang dumarating na tulong dito. Wala pa, maawa kayo. Kahit isa, wala. Bumaba na ‘yong tubig, walang dumadating,” Norma Antonio said.

“Tulungan niyo po ako kahit kaunti lang. Kahit para na lang sa mga anak ko,” another resident, Marie Boquerin, said.

Meanwhile, Editha Bansin said her family lost everything, including their home.

“Na-wash out po. Walang natira kahit ‘yong mga damit,” Bansin said.

Earlier, several residents of Barangay Santolan in Pasig City had to climb their roofs for safety as flood water rose fast, aggravated by the overflow of the Pasig River due to Ulysses' non-stop rains.

GMA News Online has contacted Sotto for comment but has yet to receive a reply.

Ulysses, the eighth to hit the country in the past two months, struck areas still reeling from Super Typhoon Rolly (international name: Goni), the most powerful typhoon in the world this year, which killed 25 people and destroyed thousands of homes earlier this month. -With a report from Ted Cordero/NB/KG, GMA News
