By ERWIN COLCOL,GMA News

Caloocan City Representative Edgar Erice has tested positive for COVID-19.

Erice shared the development on his Facebook page on Sunday morning.

"After eight days in quarantine, I have tested positive for COVID," the lawmaker said.

Erice said he has "very mild symptoms" of COVID-19 which should not be a cause for concern.

He added that his office will be temporarily closed due to numerous cases among his staff.

"God’s grace shall bear us out of this pandemic. You can still message me though if you think I can do something for you my beloved constituents," he also said.

Apart from Erice, at least 15 other lawmakers from the House of Representatives had tested positive for COVID-19.

Most recently, Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, Anakalusugan party-list Representative Mike Defensor, and Negros Oriental Representative Jocelyn Sy Limkaichong contracted the disease.

Senior Citizens party-list Representatives Francisco Datol Jr., and Sorsogon Representative Ditas Ramos died after testing positive for the disease.

The House of Representatives earlier imposed a four-day lockdown due to the "alarming" increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila. —KG, GMA News
