PNP to implement new Metro Manila curfew hours

By CONSUELO MARQUEZ, GMA News

The Philippine National Police on Monday said it would enforce the new curfew hours in Metro Manila, contrary to its earlier pronouncement that it would not implement the curfew hours without a written resolution from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

PNP spokesman Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said police officers would enforce the 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew hours after the PNP chief General Debold Sinas ordered them to do so.

"Yes it is to be readily implemented by the PNP in the NCR Plus Bubble. The CPNP has already given [instructions] to the ground troops to implement the MMDA reso tonight," said Usana in a text message to reporters in response to a question about the new curfew hours.

Earlier, Usana said the PNP would continue to enforce the old curfew hours of 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. due to the absence of a memorandum from MMDA.
