More vaccination sites were opened in Taguig City to boost the city's inoculation program against COVID-19, the local government said on Wednesday.

New vaccination sites were opened in Western Bicutan National High School in Barangay Western Bicutan and at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in BGC Taguig.

These will complement the five existing vaccination sites in Lakeshore, Vista Mall Parking Building, RP Cruz Elementary School, Maharlika Elementary School, and EM’s Signal Village Elementary School.

"The city continues to vaccinate those who are in categories A1, A2, at A3. We prioritize them because they are the most vulnerable sector. These are the most vulnerable sectors that if infected, there are high chances that they will experience severe symptoms,” Mayor Lino Cayetano said in a press release.

Cayetano said the local government is eyeing to open the vaccination hubs even on weekends and holidays to boost inoculation and immunize residents as soon as possible since the threat of the virus is still there.

As of April 12, Taguig City has inoculated a total of 17,735 persons, including 9,445 health workers, 3,503 senior citizens, and 4,427 individuals with comorbidities.

A total of 926 of the 9,445 vaccinated frontliners already received their second dose of vaccines. — BM, GMA News
