Traffic enforcer sacked after flagging down motorist over traffic violation he didn't commit

A traffic law enforcer in Manila was sacked after flagging down a motorist and issuing a traffic citation over a violation he did not commit.

According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras" on Tuesday, Miguel Vistan was asked by traffic law enforcer Efren Fria to pull over for allegedly beating the red light.

Vistan, however, showed the enforcer footage from his dash cam belying the latter's claim and showing he did not commit the violation.

"Pinilit niya talaga eh. Natakot kami ng passenger ko. Ako personally decided to surrender na lang 'yong license ko para lang matapos na, para makalagpas na," he said.

Vistan then posted the video of the incident on social media, which Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau operations chief Wilson Chan Sr. saw.

"Mali po 'yong paniniket ni Mr. Fria. Sabi ko 'Ito o. Kitang-kita, papaano mo sasabihing nag-beat siya ng red light?' So sa bandang huli siguro, nahimasmasan siya at nagpakumbaba na lang. Humingi siya ng kapatawaran kay Mr. Vistan po," Chan said, adding that the enforcer has already been sacked.

"Ang opisina po ay hindi po kumukunsinte sa mga ganoong attitude ng ating mga enforcer," he added.
