Manila to begin 24/7 vaccination on Aug. 8 but no walk-ins allowed —Isko

The Manila City Government will begin its 24/7 vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Sunday, August 8.

At a live briefing, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno said only individuals belonging to the A1, A2, A3, and A5 priority groups will be vaccinated for their first dose.

“Bawal ang walk-in (walk-ins are not allowed),” the mayor stressed.

Moreno said 2,000 doses each will be administered at the Isabelo Delos Reyes Elementary School, the Holy Trinity Academy, and the Jacinto Zamora Elementary School.

According to the mayor, the vaccination in these three sites will begin at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, vaccinations for individuals under the same categories in 15 other school sites will run from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.  Walk-ins are also not allowed.

“I hope you can get a copy, basahin po natin at mag kusang disiplina (let’s read it and let’s discipline ourselves),” he said.

He also explained that those under the A4 priority group or essential workers are not included as the vaccines that will be used is from the COVAX Facility.

“’Yung bilin po kasi ng DOH, ‘yung bakunang dumating sa atin donation under COVAX. Ayun lang po ang pinapabakunahan (The DOH instructed us that since the vaccines we have came from COVAX, only those in specific priority groups will be vaccinated),” he said.

Manila has reported 964 active cOVID-19 cases. Meanwhile, 67,535 have recovered and 1,306 have succumbed to the illness.

Meanwhile, 838,548 Manila residents have received at least one dose while 666,823 have been fully vaccinated.

The Philippines has logged a total of 1,649,341 cases, of which 1,544,443 have recovered and 28,835 have died. -Joahna Lei Casilao/MDM, GMA News
