Woman shot dead inside rented home in Malate

A woman was shot dead inside her rented home in Malate, Manila.

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, authorities found the woman lifeless inside her house.

Residents near the crime scene said they heard two gunshots before finding the woman's body.

Barangay 704 chairman Guillermo Friera said the victim was included in the drug watchlist.

"We can't really say she was a resident here because she was often away," Friera said in Filipino.

"There was a witness to the shooting. They said the killers wore masks and black jackets. We are working with the police," he added.

Friera also said the CCTV camera in the area is also broken.

"We have identified some suspects. Our follow-up is ongoing. The victim was involved in illegal drug activities; that is the angle we are looking into," Manila Police District spokesperson Police Captain Philip Ines said in Filipino. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
