Around P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu was seized while a suspect was arrested during an anti-illegal drugs operations in Caloocan City, the Philippine National Police said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the PNP identified the suspect as 38-year-old delivery rider Arturo Del Cruz Jr., who was arrested in front of a fast-food chain restaurant along Loreto Street in Barangay 84 during last Saturday's joint PNP-Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operation.

Confiscated from the suspect were 500 grams of suspected shabu, a P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money, and some boodle money.

Eleazar instructed the local police to conduct a follow-up investigation to determine the extent of Dela Cruz’s operations and his possible affiliation with an illegal drug syndicate.

“Aalamin din natin kung sino ang supplier o grupong kinabibilangan ng suspek at saan dadalhin itong malaking halaga ng shabu. Posibleng isa siya sa pinagmumulan ng supply ng droga sa Kamaynilaan,”

(We will also determine his supplier and group, as well as where he will bring this valuable amount of shabu. He may be one of the suppliers of drugs in Metro Manila)

Del Cruz is in the custody of the PDEA III office while the complaint against him for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is readied, the PNP said.

Eleazar also reminded delivery and courier service firms to carefully screen the applicants they employ as delivery riders. — DVM, GMA News
