Senator Sonny Angara on Wednesday said he is not experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 a couple of days after he tested positive again for the virus.

"Ngayon wala akong sintomas ng COVID unlike noong first time na na-diagnose ako noong March — nilalagnat ako, masakit ang ulo at lalamunan ko, may diarrhea ako. Ngayon I don't have any symptoms at all," Angara told reporters in a virtual interview.

The senator already recovered from COVID-19 but yielded a positive result again

just when he was about to make his second plasma donation.

Angara said he is practicing the same home quarantine measures.

"Halos same lang naman 'yung quarantine ko. I was in the same room. Kapag kausap ko ang mga tao naka-mask sila at wala akong kasama sa kuwarto," he said.

The senator added that he would undergo another COVID-19 test next week to check if he is still positive.

"Ite-test nila para makita kung the result was a real positve or 'yung tinatawag nila na false positive in the sense that the test only detected the fragments or remnants of the original virus," he said.

The Department of Health said Angara may no longer be infectious despite testing positive for the virus again. It also pointed out that the PCR-based test is not being recommended by health experts as a measure of cure against the COVID-19, but merely as a means to detect the virus.

Aside from Angara, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri and Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III also contracted COVID-19 and recovered. --KBK, GMA News
