Sinas says he didn't order removal of Rappler reporter from Viber group

By ANNA FELICIA BAJO, GMA News

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Debold Sinas on Thursday said he did not order the removal of a Rappler reporter from the official Viber group of the NCRPO and the media amid criticisms on his mañanita last May 8.

"Hindi ko inutos 'yun, hindi po. Hindi ko masyadong kilala si Rambo (Talabong) pero nakikita ko rin 'yan sa mga press con," Sinas said in an interview on CNN Philippines.

Sinas said he would ask his public information officer regarding the matter as he is not the one maintaining the Viber group.

"I will ask my PIO. Hindi po ako nagmaintain ng Viber group namin,” Sinas said.

GMA News Online has been reaching the NCRPO PIO regarding the issue; but it has yet to respond to inquiries.

On Wednesday, Talabong said he was removed from the Viber group after he reported that Sinas had supposedly violated quarantine protocols following his birthday celebration despite the lockdown.

Sinas' mañanita drew flak from netizens after photos were posted on the official Facebook page of NCRPO-Public Information Office, apparently showing that social distancing was not observed during the event.

The Metro Manila's top cop already apologized if his celebration brought "anxiety" to the public. However, he said some of the photos were edited and grabbed from old posts.

The Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service has started its probe on the incident. According to its chief, lawyer Alfegar Triambulo, Sinas will not be relieved from his post pending investigation.—AOL, GMA News
