By JOVILAND RITA, GMA News

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has collaborated with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to provide training for educators for distance learning.

In a public briefing, CHED chair Prospero de Vera said the program only covers colleges and universities that have no experience in the mentioned approach of teaching.

“Starting May 26, nag-offer ang DICT ng training program, para sa mga teachers,” he said. “Meron kaming sisimulan ngayong June. Meron kaming malaking proyekto with several American universities.”

Some schools that have the capability to offer distance learning hold their own training. According to De Vera, most of these schools have been offering distance learning even before the pandemic and lockdown.

“Marami tayong pamantasan na nagsimula nang gumamit ng open, distance learning bago pa po ang COVID. Hindi na kailangan tulungan ng komisyon,” he said.

According to De Vera, some schools will resume classes this month and in July using the alternative approach of learning.—AOL, GMA News
