Albay's Salceda withdraws as co-author of anti-terror bill

Albay Representative Joey Salceda not only withdrew as co-author of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, but also withdrew his “yes” vote for the measure, GMA 7 news program 24 Oras Weekend reported on Saturday.

According to Salceda certain definitions in the bill needed to be clarified to protect innocent citizens.

Furthermore, certain provisions needed to be amended in order to meet human rights and constitutional requirements.

Earlier, officials of the Ateneo and La Salle universities had urged President Rodrigo Duterte to reject the anti-terror bill, which they said was ill-timed.  — DVM, GMA News
