Malacañang on Tuesday said it was saddened by the incidents of violence against women and children during the implementation of community quarantine in the country to stop the spread of COVID-19.

In a televised briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque expressed hope that the number of incidents will go down following the easing of restrictions.

“Sana po, dahil nakakalungkot po ‘yan na habang tayo’y nasa quarantine, sama-sama ang mga pamilya ay ngayon pa po tumaas ang bilang,” he said.

Roque asked victims to report abuses to authorities.
