DepEd mulls extending enrollment until July 15
Education Secretary Leonor Briones said Tuesday they are now mulling extending the enrollment for public schools in the country until July 15.
Briones said she received requests from parents for the extension of enrollment.
“Marami akong natatanggap na mga request na humihingi ng extension na kung pwedeng i-accomodate ‘yung mga anak nila,” she said.

Around 12 million expected students are yet to be registered on the last day of enrollment, according to the DepEd.
Based on the data given by DepEd Undersecretary Jess Mateo to GMA News Online, the total number of students who have enrolled for the coming school year was 15,686,506, as of 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
The region with the least number of enrollees was Cordillera Administrative Region with 262, 578; followed by the Caraga Region with 416,807; then the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with 421,582.
Meanwhile, CALABARZON has the most number of enrollees with 2,316,903; followed by Central Luzon with 1,744,169; then the National Capital Region with 1,740,550.
Briones welcomed the number enrollees saying it is a good indication that parents want their children to return to school.
We want to encourage parents to send their children to school dahil maiiwanan ang mga anak nila,” she added.
