The House of Representatives on Monday logged its 12th case of COVID-19 after another employee of the Internal Audit Department tested positive for the virus.

House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales announced the development in a statement shared with reporters.

"We reported last July 1 that an employee assigned at the Internal Audit Department tested positive for COVID-19. One of those exposed to her, a contractual personnel in their Department, also tested positive today," Montales said.

According to Montales, the new COVID-19 case in the Internal Audit Department is asymptomatic.

The department has been closed since July 2, he added.

The House has reported new COVID-19 cases almost every day since the first week of July.

Last Wednesday and Thursday, the House announced that two of its employees tested positive for the disease.
