DOH: No signs of COVID-19's reported long-term effects on local survivors so far

The Department of Health (DOH) is looking into reports from other countries regarding COVID-19's supposed long-term effects on patients who have recovered from it.

In an online media forum, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergiere said the department has not seen the same observation yet with local recovered patients.

“Wala pa tayo talagang nakikita na masasabi natin na malawakan na meron talagang nagkakaroon ng long-term effects,” she said.

“I saw these articles these past days na may mga countries, nagbibigay sila ng experiences nila, and they were saying may long-term effects. Pero dito sa atin, meron tayong in-oobserbahan, pero hindi talaga natin nakikita,” she added.

Vergeire said recovered patients in the country actually are in good health condition and have returned to their regular routines.

“Actually, we would see people who have recovered, they are now very healthy, went back to their normal routine. But of course, tinututukan din ng DOH ang mga lumabas na articles,” she said.

Once they see signs that these reports are true, Vergeire said they will advise the public about the long-term effects of COVID-19.

“Tinitignan din natin 'yung experiences ng ating mga naka-recover para kung saka sakali, ay makikita natin, we can advise people,” she added. KBK, GMA News
