Number of House COVID-19 cases climbs to 18

Another employee at the House of Representatives has tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases recorded in the chamber to 18.

House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales made the announcement on Tuesday in a statement shared with reporters.

According to him, the employee who tested positive for COVID-19 was assigned at the Bills and Index Service.

The said employee has been working from home since June 18 but went to their office last June 29 to submit some documents, he added.

reported in the House this week, after a congressional staff was announced on Monday to have also tested positive for the disease.

On July 14, the House reported that another congressional staff and a security personnel also tested positive for COVID-19.

It also reported cases on July 13 and July 11.

Meanwhile, the House's first confirmed COVID-19 case from the Internal Audit Department has already tested negative, Montales said.

As of July 20, a total of 68,898 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Philippines, with 1,835 deaths and 23,072 recoveries. —KBK, GMA News
