4 more OVP staffers test positive for COVID-19

Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday announced that four more of her staff tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to eight.

On Sunday, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) announced that though Robredo tested negative, four OVP staff members were confirmed to have the illness.

“I have gotten in touch with them to assure them that the office will do its utmost to take care of them and their families. They seem to be in good spirits and wala naman sa kanilang nagpakita ng severe symptoms,” Robredo said in a Facebook post.

The Vice President said that work from home arrangements in the office will continue as they expand contact tracing measures.

“We are confident that with our protocols being fully implemented, all those infected will soon be identified and consequently treated, and the spread of the virus will be stemmed,” she said.

All OVP personnel who had tested positive acquired the illness in the line of duty, the Vice President said. She added that she wanted to “affirm” their courage and resolve.

“Sa ngayon, I want to assure everyone that we understand the continuing importance of the OVP’s relief efforts to frontliners and the general public,” She said.

Robredo said they are coordinating with medical experts on the best timeframe to resume operations at the physical office amid the pandemic. — DVM, GMA News
