Frontline DOJ offices manned by skeletal workforce amid MECQ

Frontline offices of the Department of Justice will be manned by a rotating skeletal workforce as Metro Manila and other nearby areas revert to a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said employees of the DOJ proper will otherwise be working from home.

"Prosecution service in the affected areas will continue via teleconferencing and other electronic means. Filing of complaints, affidavits, and other papers may be done online," Guevarra said in a message to reporters.

For its part, the National Bureau of Investigation said it is suspending the processing of clearances in all areas under MECQ.

The NBI's satellite offices in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna are closed from August 4 to 18, the bureau said Tuesday.

President Rodrigo Duterte has placed these areas back to MECQ from the general community quarantine for 15 days effective Tuesday, August 4.

Medical frontliners earlier asked for the reimposition of ECQ over Metro Manila to give them time to rest and "recalibrate strategies" against COVID-19. — Nicole-Anne C. Lagrimas/RSJ, GMA News
