COVID-19 cases at House now at 64

The number of COVID-19 cases at the House of Representatives is now at 64, including 13 active with two new confirmed cases, House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales said on Saturday.

In a statement, Montales said the first of the two new cases is an employee assigned at the Oversight Committee who last reported for work on September 1 and 2. 

The patient got herself tested after she experienced chills, colds, and loss of smell. 

The second patient is an Information and Communications Technology Service employee who last reported for work on August 24 and 26. He also underwent testing after having symptoms of fever, body malaise, cough, and loss of smell. 

Both patients are not close contacts of any confirmed cases in the House of Representatives, Montales said.

Contact tracing is ongoing, Montales added.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 232,072 on Friday after the Department of Health announced 3,714 new infections.

Of this number, 160,549 have recovered while 3,737 died. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA News
