TESDA contact tracer trainees to get allowance, money for PPE, mobile data

By JAMIL SANTOS,GMA News

Individuals training to become contact tracers under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will receive P160 daily allowance, as well as money for their personal protective equipment (PPE), and mobile data.

Interviewed on Dobol B Sa News TV on Saturday, TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said they have already trained around 74 regional lead trainers for them to conduct multiplier training activities at the National TVET Trainers Academy.

Lapeña said that due to the high demand for contact tracers, training for contact tracing was separated from the barangay health services.

"'Yung trainees natin will even be provided an allowance for the whole duration of the training which is P160 a day, and a training support fund of P500 para sa PPE nila, and another P500 para sa mobile data nila," he said.

Lapeña said the fund for the mobile data will include the trainees' online and offline learning.

"Ito ang ating binibigyan ng priority sa ngayon. I consider it even urgent para makatulong tayo doon sa pag-trace ng mga nagkaroon ng close contact with COVID positive individuals and ma-isolate sila."

TESDA previously announced it will be a 15-day contact-tracing training program to be conducted through blended learning.

The program does not have an age limit or requirement but trainees should have completed at least 10 years of basic education or should be a holder of an alternative learning system certificate of completion equivalent to Grade 10.

TESDA said there will be three competencies of the program such as basic, common, and core competencies. —LBG, GMA News
