House reports new COVID-19 case; total at 81

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases within the House of Representatives rose to 81 on Thursday evening after another employee tested positive for the illness.

According to House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales, the employee from the office of Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano reported for work on September 21 to September 23.

She took a COVID-19 test after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms such as a dry and itchy throat, Montales said.

Meanwhile, two more employees have recovered from the illness, bringing the number of total active cases to 13.

At present, the Philippines has reported a total of 296,755 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 231,928 recoveries and 5,127 fatalities. -- BAP, GMA News
