Robredo visits typhoon-hit Camarines Sur on Monday

Vice President Leni Robredo on Monday went to the Bicol region to visit the areas badly hit by Typhoon Rolly. 

A video posted to Facebook showed Robredo checking the damage at Sabang National High School in Calabanga, which was used as an evacuation center.

On Twitter, Robredo photos of the damage caused by Rolly's onslaught in the province. She added that she will also be visiting Albay and Catanduanes.

“Left Manila before dawn today. Just arrived CamSur and these were the first signs of devastation we saw,” she said in the caption.

Robredo’s hometown is Naga City, Camarines Sur, one of the areas badly-hit by Rolly, which left 16 people dead and about two million affected as of latest count.

Earlier, Robredo’s office said its relief efforts are already ongoing in the affected and areas and more aid will be coming.

The Office of the Vice President said it distributed food packs in Calabanga and Magarao in Camarines Sur, both coastal and flood prone areas, ahead of Rolly’s arrival.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte is also set to visit Legazpi City and other areas hit by Rolly, Senator Bong Go said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
