NDRRMC urges state of calamity in Bicol, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday recommended that Bicol, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA  be placed under a state of calamity due to the damage caused by super typhoon Rolly and typhoon Quinta.

According to the Office of the Civil Defense, the recommendation was approved by the council and it will be sent to President Rodrigo Duterte for approval.

NDRRMC held a full council meeting on Friday to discuss the effects of the typhoons as well as the government’s response efforts.

The NDRRMC also recommended authorities to standardize the Emergency Shelter Assistance where beneficiaries would receive financial assistance to repair their houses.

Meanwhile, the National Housing Authority was advised to assist local government units in relocating displaced residents from danger-zones.

The NDRRMC said it will also expand the current Philippine Humanitarian Assistance Registry to record and monitor donations for other disasters.

?It also tasked the Department of the Interior and Local Government to submit an update on the status of local disaster risk reduction and management fund and to recommend possible augmentation of their quick response fund.
