Over 4,200 people stranded in ports due to Auring –PCG

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) monitored 4,246 passengers, drivers, and cargo helpers stranded in different ports across the country due to Tropical Storm Auring.

As of noon Sunday, 75 vessels, a motorbanca, 1, 804 rolling cargoes were stranded in Northern Mindanao, Northeastern Mindanao, the Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Bicol Regions.

At least 94 vessels and 56 motorbancas were taking shelter as a precautionary measure against the weather.

Most of the stranded passengers were from the Eastern Visayas, where 2,555 passengers, drivers, and helpers as well as six vessels and 847 rolling cargoes were stranded.

They were stranded at the Port of Liloan Ferry Terminal, Port of San Ricardom, Port of Sta. Clara, Port of Balwarteco, and Port of Dapdap.

Sea conditions in the region were moderate, according to the PCG.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 remains in place over several areas in Mindanao and in Eastern Samar, where Auring is expected to make landfall sometime between Sunday evening and Monday morning, PAGASA said. — DVM, GMA News
