PNP reports 40th fatality due to COVID-19

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday reported that another personnel among its ranks has succumbed to COVID-19, bringing the total deaths in the police force to 40.

The PNP said the 40th fatality was an admin police non-commissioned officer with a rank of police staff sergeant, and was part of the Manila Police District.

The fatality was 40 years old.

As of April 2, the total number of PNP personnel who have contracted COVID-19 reached 15,646 with 328 new infections.

Of the total cases, 13,003 have already recovered with 213 new recoveries, while 2,603 cases are still active.

Nationwide, the Philippines has tallied 771,497 cases of COVID-19 of which 15,310 new cases were recorded on April 2, bringing the total number of active cases to 153,809. â€”Ted Cordero/KG, GMA News
