House reso filed seeking commendation of Ana Patricia Non, other pantry organizers

Gabriela party-list Representative Arlene Brosas and other members of the Makabayan Bloc have filed a resolution commending Ana Patricia Non and other organizers of community pantries that sprouted amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Non started the community pantry along Maginhawa Street in Quezon City to help those in need amid the health crisis. Her initiative was imitated by other individuals and groups, not only in Metro Manila but even in other provinces.

Through House Resolution 1763, the progressive lawmakers said Non's pantry inspired other Filipinos to set up their own and reinvigorated the spirit of Bayanihan and solidarity among Filipinos especially during these difficult times wherein people are crying for assistance.

The bloc said over 6,000 pantries have already been set up across the country.

"Non and other community pantry organizers deserve utmost commendation and recognition for their trailblazing and noble efforts to ease the hunger and suffering of Filipinos amid the COVID-19," the resolution read.

"Amid the red tagging, harassment, and threats, Ana Patricia Non and the organizers of community pantries all over the Philippines did not quiver and persist to help and serve the poor Filipinos."

A similar resolution has already been filed in the Senate. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
