PDP-Laban regional officer seeks suspension of party's executive director

By CONSUELO MARQUEZ,GMA News

A regional officer of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) on Monday proposed the suspension of the party's Executive Director Ron Munsayac, accusing the latter of failing to air their concerns with party leaders.

In PDP-Laban's national assembly, Alonzo Saclag, the party's regional officer in the Cordillera Administrative Region, lamented that their concerns were being "sanitized" by Munsayac.

(Our companions' complaints aren't being relayed to the leadership because Ronald Munsayac wants to sanitize them first. When someone has a complaint, he does not pass it on to Senator Koko Pimentel. He wants it swept under the rug. I've had it, Mr. Chairman.)

Saclag also alleged that Munsayac continued to "provoke, pose intrigue and circulate misinformation" by using his PDP-Laban post as a platform.

If proven guilty, Saclag also proposed that Munsayac should be removed from the party.

"Therefore, Mr. Chairman and members of this council, I move that we suspend Mr. Munsayac, pending investigation and if found guilty Mr. Ronald Munsayac was expelled from the party," said Saclag.

But Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, vice chairman of PDP-Laban, said they will refer Saclag's request to a proper body who will act on the motion. He added that it "can be discussed in the next council meeting."

In a press conference after the meeting, PDP-Laban secretary-general Melvin Matibag said Saclag's concern will be studied by the legal and arbitration committee, whose findings will be referred to the party's national council.

"It is referred to the secretary general so that we can dispose of it to the proper committee which is the legal and arbitration committee whatever findings of the observation ng committee will be submitted to the national council," said Matibag.
