President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday urged local government units (LGUs) to not make vaccine recipients line up for "an hour longer" because it exposes people to more health risks.

In his weekly Talk to the Nation, he likewise ordered the LGUs to use "technology and advanced approaches" to ensure the implementation of vaccination is effective.

"Huwag ninyo paglinyahin kasi magkakasakit din 'yan. Just the same, the very thing you try to avoid will happen... Barangay captain has a list of people in his barangay. It behooves upon you guys to make sure that they are given the numbers and appointed time and not make them queue," Duterte said.

Meanwhile, the tough-talking President directed barangay captains to arrest owners of resorts who are allowing mass gathering in their establishments as he reminded barangay officials of their mandate to enforce safety protocols against COVID-19.

"Kaya kayong mga barangay captain, kayo ang mayor sa inyong lugar. Kapag nagpalpak yan, 'di mo na-control and there are celebrations everywhere... kagaya nung sa swimming pool, you arrest the... the barangay captain should arrest the owner of resort allowing people in numbers to be together in the swimming pool enjoying at the same time violating the law," said Duterte.

Duterte, however, reminded local officials not to arrest minors found in the swimming pool.

"Ang bata 'di mo maaresto, you have to just pick them up from the swimming pool and send them home. Ngayon ang mga nanay at mga tatay, 'yun ang pwede," the President said.
