MECQ urged to remain in some areas until July 15, GCQ in NCR

The Inter-agency Task Force against Emerging Infectious Diseases has recommended that several areas across the country be placed under a modified enhanced community quarantine until July 15 due to the continued spread of COVID-19.

Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan was suggested to placed be under a general community quarantine with some restrictions for the same period.

Details of the IATF recommendations are as follows:

MECQ (until July 15, 2021)
Cagayan; Apayao; Bataan; Lucena City; Puerto Princesa; Naga City; Iloilo City; Iloilo; Negros Oriental; Zamboanga Del Sur; Zamboanga Del Norte; Cagayan De Oro City; Davao City; Davao Oriental; Davao Occidental; Davao De Oro; Davao Del Sur; Davao Del Norte; Butuan City; Dinagat Islands; Surigao Del Sur

GCQ with some restrictions (until July 15, 2021)
NCR, Rizal, Bulacan

GCQ with heightened restrictions (until July 15, 2021)
Laguna, Cavite

GCQ (from July 1 to 31, 2021)

The rest of the Philippines will be under modified GCQ. 

OCTA recommendation

Earlier, the OCTA Research team recommended that Metro Manila should stay under GCQ as its average daily attack rate and positivity rate were still high and its COVID-19 vaccine coverage remained low.

Following the detection of more cases of the Delta variant, OCTA said the country must prepare for the possibility of the more transmissible variants overwhelming the healthcare system.

The Philippines has so far recorded 1,403,588 cases of COVID-19 including 24,456 deaths and 1,327,103 recoveries.

The country has also administered more than 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, three months since the launch of its inoculation campaign in March, according to the Department of Health.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said 10,065,414 doses have been administered across 1,231 active vaccination sites.

A total of 7,538,128 shots were administered as first doses while 2,527,286 were second doses. —NB, GMA News
