The number of active COVID-19 infections at the House of Representatives has reached 47, House Secretary General Mark Llandro Mendoza said Tuesday.

In an interview with reporters, Mendoza, however, clarified that this number still includes those who are awaiting clearance for their recovery.

“Dito sa 47 kasi, hinihintay natin, kasama pa ‘yung naka-recover na na hindi pa nabibigyan ng clearance,” Mendoza said.

“Mga 15 pa ito na hinihintay namin mabigyan ng clearance, hindi naman namin sila puwede alisin sa count as per DOH (Department of Health) instruction,” he added.

Mendoza did not provide further details on the COVID-19 cases in the lower chamber. In April, it was reported that at least 15 lawmakers got infected with COVID-19.

Mendoza said the lower chamber would still implement the same health standards in the Third Regular Session. — RSJ, GMA News
