Robredo still undecided on Eleksyon 2022

Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday said she was still undecided on which elective position she would pursue in the upcoming 2022 elections.

In her radio show, Robredo denied claims she would not run for governor of Camarines Sur.

"Wala pang desisyon so wala namang—walang kahit sinong magsabi na nakapag-desisyon na ako kasi hindi iyon totoo. Ito, nakita natin, for quite some time, sinasabi ng mga tao na nakapag-decide na ako na maggo-governor ako—hindi totoo. Ito na naman, mayroong isang taong nagsasabi na sigurado akong hindi ako maggo-governor—hindi rin totoo kasi lahat iyan, option," Robredo said.

(There's been no decision, no one can say I've decided on anything because that's not true. This has been going on for a while. Someone says I've decided to run for governor - that's not true. Someone else says I've decided not to run for governor - that's not true either. Both of those are still options.)

Should she make her final decision, Robredo said it will come directly from her.

For now, Robedo said she would rather focus more on helping Filipinos during the pandemic than on next year's elections. She expressed hope that politicians would focus on helping lessen the blow of the coronavirus disease 2019 and helping Filipinos survive the pandemic.

"Nakikita mo 'yun ngayon, 'yung mga malalaking pulitiko, may election o walang election, election ang nasa isip... Nalulungkot lang ako," she said.

"Ang taas din ng [COVID-19] cases, iyon na muna asikasuhin. Ang eleksyon, next year pa iyon... Ngayon, marami tayong problema doon na muna," Robedo added.

Earlier, Camarines Sur Representative Luis Raymund “LRay' Villafuerte said Robredo cannot run for governor of Camarines Sur in the coming national and local elections.

Villafuerte expressed the belief that Robredo would seek the presidency in the 2022 polls.

"Ako, personally ang pakiramdam ko si Leni will run for president ngayon 'yung sinasabing she's considering to run for local, she can run for Congressman or mayor of Naga City but definitely not for governor," Villafuerte said.

"Why? May kaso na po ang Comelec na if you're a registered voter of Naga City, you are disqualified to run in the province. Decided case na po 'yan," he added. — DVM/MDM, GMA News
