A total of 1,411,133 violators of minimum public health standards were recorded since May 6, an official from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Thursday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, DILG Assistant Secretary Odilon Pasaraba said most violations involved the wearing of face mask and face shield, as well as physical distancing.

“Nakapagtala tayo with our PNP officials' coordination ng 1,411,133 violators (We have recorded 1,411,133 violators through our coordination with the Philippine National Police),” he said.

At least 1,008,986 received warnings for violating the health protocols.

According to Pasaraba, a total of 42,031 violators were arrested. The arrested violators were asked to pay a fine or undergo community service for their violation.

He pointed out that the DILG and the Department of Health have provided enough guidance for the strategy and standards to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

“Ito ay hindi tungkulin lamang ng isang ahensya ng pamahalaan. Ito ay nangangailangan ng whole-of-government at whole-of-nation approach,” Pasaraba said.
