PNP records over 20K quarantine violations on 1st day of NCR ECQ

The Philippine National Police said Sunday that over 20,000 health protocols violations were recorded during the first day of the enhanced community quarantine in the National Capital Region, and in neighboring areas.

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said that of the 20,511 violators, 5,781 ignored curfew hours, while 14,775 violated the minimum public health standards with improper use of face mask, non-wearing of face shields, and non-observance of social distancing among others.

On the implementation of the uniform curfew hours, Eleazar said Metro Manila posted the highest number of violators with 4,394, followed by Cavite, which is under modified ECQ, with 540.

Laguna recorded 471 curfew violators, while Rizal, which is also under MECQ, posted 370 violations.

Bulacan, which is under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions, recorded six curfew violations.

Metro Manila was reverted to hard lockdown on August 6th, and will stay so until the 20th to curb the spread of the more transmissible Delta coronavirus variant.

Malacañang assured the public that the government has enough funds to provide cash aid to low-income families hit hardest by the lockdown. —LBG, GMA News
