15 reported dead, 10 missing due to Jolina –NDRRMC

Fifteen people were reported to have died, while 10 were likewise reported missing, due to Typhoon Jolina, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Saturday.

In its 8 a.m. situational report, the NDRRMC said of the 15 reported fatalities, one casualty was confirmed.

Of the 10 missing, seven were confirmed.

Twenty people were meanwhile reported injured or ill.

Jolina affected a total of 140,444 persons or 37,022 families in 891 barangays in Region 3; CALABARZON; MIMAROPA; Regions 5, 6, 8, 12; and NCR.

There were 19,778 displaced persons or 5,341 displaced families inside 412 evacuation centers.

There were 9,174 displaced persons or 2,351 displaced families outside evacuation centers.

There were 157 roads and six bridges that were passable in Region 3; CALABARZON; MIMAROPA;  Regions 5, 6, 8; CAR; and NCR. Eleven roads and one bridge were meanwhile not passable.

The NDRRMC further reported that a total of 35 cities or municipalities experienced power interruptions or outages, 27 of which were already restored.

A total of five cities and municipalities experienced water supply interruption or outage, two of which were already restored.

Two airports were reported to be non-operational, but one resumed operations in Region 6.

Eight domestic flights were canceled before they resumed.

A total of 54 ports were reported non-operational, but 20 ports restored operations in MIMAROPA and Region 6.

A total of 200 passengers, 195 rolling cargoes, six vessels, were reported to be stranded in Region 1; Region 3; CALABARZON; MIMAROPA; Regions 5, 6, 7, 8, 12; CAR; and NCR.

A total of 6,575 damaged houses were reported in CALABARZON; MIMAROPA; Regions 5, 6, and 8.

The NDRRMC estimated that the cost of damage to agriculture was P190,911,048.34 in Region 3, MIMAROPA, regions 5, 6, and 8.

The estimated cost of damage to infrastructure was at P30,675,253, incurred in MIMAROPA and Regions 5 and 6.

Classes were suspended in 313 cities and municipalities, and work was suspended in 311 cities and municipalities in Regions 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, 5, 8, and NCR.

A total of 2,735 families or 11,062 persons were pre-emptively evacuated in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Region 8. — DVM, GMA News
