488 Cagayan families evacuated to shelters due to Kiko –NDRRMC

Some 1,617 people or 488 families took shelter in 61 evacuation centers in Cagayan province due to Typhoon Kiko, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Saturday.

So far, no casualties nor missing persons were reported in northern Luzon, NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal said on Super Radyo DZBB.

"Wala pa po at ang dalangin namin dito ay sana wala talaga," said Timbal.

(So far, there are no reports of casualties, and our prayers are there won't be any.)

There were no reported untoward incidents in the Calayan Islands and Batanes as of 11 a.m., Timbal added, and communication lines to the Batanes were still open.

Meanwhile, based on preliminary reports, 79 individuals were evacuated in Divilacan, while 247 individuals evacuated in Maconacon in the province of Isabela.

Also, based on an NDRRMC situational report, as of 8 a.m., Kiko had affected 15 barangays, 415 people or 120 families in Region 2.

There were 374 displaced persons or 103 families inside eight evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, there were 41 displaced persons or 17 families outside evacuation centers.

Classes and work were suspended in 29 cities and municipalities on Friday.

Roads and bridges in Cauayan, Isabela, and Tuba, Benguet that were previously reported to be not passable are currently passable. — DVM, GMA News
