Robredo says pandemic response may have caused decrease in Duterte rating

After President Rodrigo Duterte's satisfaction rating dipped in May and June 2021, Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday said the administration's pandemic response may have caused this change.

According to the recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, Duterte's satisfaction rating was down to 75% in May and June 2021 from 84% in November 2020, his highest rating since he assumed office in 2016.

"Ito hindi ko alam kung ano 'yung mga factors. Siguro 'yung isa sa mga dahilan dahil dito sa COVID-19 response ng pamahalaan," said Robredo during her weekly radio show when asked to react on the latest SWS rating.

(I don't know the factors but maybe one of the reasons could be the government's pandemic response.)

Robredo then said Filipinos, who are also taxpayers, have the right to demand more from their government.

"'Yung sa'tin lang, 'yung dapat lang kasi maintindihan ng tao na karapatan natin mag-demand sa pamahalaan ng klase ng pamumuno na nade-deserve natin," Robredo said.

(For us, people should understand that they have the right to demand the leadership that we deserve.)

"Kasi kung palpak na palpak na, ayaw lang natin buksan mga mata natin. Sino ba lugi? Tayo din," she added.

(Because if it is not already working, if we won't open our eyes, we will be the ones who will lose.)

Despite Duterte's decrease in his SWS rating, the Palace welcomed the survey results, adding that the President's rating is still higher than those of his predecessors. —KG, GMA News
