Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Thursday warned that more cops will be relieved from their posts if they fail to resolve illegal gambling activities.

In a statement, Eleazar reminded all police offices to strengthen their campaign against illegal gambling in their respective areas.

“Magsilbing babala sana ito sa lahat ng ating kapulisan na mas paigtingin pa ang laban kontra illegal gambling lalo ngayong may pandemya,” he said.

(It should serve as a warning to all police officers to intensify the campaign against illegal gambling especially during the pandemic.)

He made the statement after two station commanders and seven police community precinct chiefs of the Quezon City Police District were relieved from their posts due to their failure to curb illegal gambling in their areas.

Eleazar also warned cops who protect individuals behind illegal gambling activities, saying that these police officers will be held accountable.

He commended QCPD director Police Brigadier General Antonio Yarra for his decision to implement "one- strike policy" to station and unit commanders over their link or lack of action against illegal gambling.—AOL, GMA News
