7,772 new Philippine COVID-19 cases recorded; active tally at 85,048

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 7,772 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,713,509.

The country’s active cases, meanwhile, stood at 85,048.

Of these cases, 81.7% were mild, 6.3% were asymptomatic, 6.87% were moderate, 3.6% were severe, and 1.5% were in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed to 2,587,881 with 1,634 new ones, while 156 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 40,580.

Data also showed that intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide remained at high risk with 64% of the total 4,300 ICU beds in use.

At least 48% of the 15,000 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 44% of the 4,300 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.

Based on the latest report, the DOH said all laboratories were operational since October 14, while there was one laboratory that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

The Health Department earlier said the country was planning to give immunocompromised individuals their third vaccine dose against COVID-19.

The DOH, however, noted on Saturday that the World Health Organization (DOH) did not specify any brand of vaccine that needed to be administered a third time. — DVM, GMA News
