The standard bearer of the ruling PDP-Laban Ronald Dela Rosa met Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte at her office on Monday.

The meeting happened a day after the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte met with Kilusang Bagong Lipunan presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Dela Rosa posted his photo with Mayor Sara on his Facebook account.

Asked for the details of their meeting, Dela Rosa first said, "Secret muna."

"To remind her that Nov. 15 is fast approaching," Dela Rosa said when pressed for the information.

The Commission on Elections allows candidate substitution until Nov. 15.

The faction of PDP-Laban led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has tapped Dela Rosa and Senator Bong Go as its presidential and vice presidential candidates in October.

The deadline for the filing of certificates of candidacy was on Oct. 8.

Parties, however, have until Nov. 15 to substitute their candidates.

In a separate Facebook post, Sara thanked dela Rosa for his advice.

"Thank you Senator Bato Dela Rosa for your advice and words of wisdom," Mayor Sara said.

Dela Rosa earlier said he was ready to be substituted and give way to Mayor Sara if the latter would decide to run for president in the coming elections.

There had been calls for the presidential daughter to run for president but she has since insisted that she wanted to finish a third and last term as Davao City mayor.

She filed her certificate of candidacy for mayor on Oct. 2.

Sara said her meeting with Marcos over the weekend was about her party Hugpong ng Pagbabago supporting his presidential bid. -NB, GMA News
