COVID-19 reproduction rate critical in Pudtol, Apayao and Santa Ana, Cagayan —OCTA

The National Capital Region and most provinces in the Philippines are seeing a slowdown in COVID-19 cases, but the virus reproduction number is still critical in Pudtol, Apayao and Santa Ana, Cagayan, the OCTA Research group said on Saturday.

Reproduction number, which refers to the number of people that may be infected by one case, was at 3.80 in Pudtol, and 2.17 in Santa Ana as of November 5, according to the group.

"The delta surge is slowing down in the NCR and most provinces in the Philippines. However, there are smaller municipalities where outbreaks have occurred," OCTA said.

The healthcare utilization rate in Santa Ana as of Nov. 4 was also at 100%, also considered critical.

Meanwhile, the average daily attack rate (ADAR) or the number of new daily cases per 100,000 was at 128.05 in Pudtol, and 51.01 in Santa Ana as of November 5, likewise in the critical level.

Lubang in Occidental Mindoro also had an ADAR of 80 as of that date.

As for the average testing positivity rate, it was critical from October 29 to November 4 in the following areas:

  • Tuguegarao: 35%
  • Lubang, Occidental Mindoro: 35%
  • Santa Ana: 33%

It was followed by Baguio City at 74.

The OCTA group said the areas classified at moderate risk are Zamboanga City, Baguio City, Bacolod, Tuguegarao and Puerto Princesa.

Meanwhile, Davao City and Antipolo are at low risk.
