Cebu City confirms 12 new COVID-19 cases; total jumps to 1,699

Cebu City has recorded 12 more cases of the coronavirus disease 2019, bringing the city’s total infection to 1,699, its city health department announced Thursday.

In a Facebook post, the Cebu City Public Information Office said five of the new cases came from Barangay Mambaling, three from Barangay Suba, two from Barangay Duljo and one each from Barangays Carreta and T. Padilla.

Mayor Edgar Labella has already ordered the transfer of all asymptomatic patients to their respective barangay isolation centers.

Patients at these barangay isolation centers will be assisted by the city health department, he added.

He said the spike in cases is the result of the city's contact tracing efforts and mass swab testing.

Labella urged all households in the city to comply with safety protocols to prevent the spread of the illness. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
