Female health worker is Occidental Mindoro's 8th COVID-19 patient

A 42-year-old female health worker is the latest case of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Occidental Mindoro, its provincial health office said Wednesday.

According to the provincial government, the infected medical worker brought the total number of cases in Occidental Mindoro to eight.

The patient, who is from Sablayan town, received the positive test result on Wednesday morning from the Philippine Red Cross.

The local government said the patient does not have fever, cough and cold, but experienced exhaustion on Tuesday.

Her swab specimen was collected on May 14 during the two-day expanded target COVID-19 testing of health care workers in Sablayan.

Currently, the province has two active cases, five recoveries and one fatality.

Nationwide, cases of COVID-19 were at 12,942 as of Tuesday, including 837 deaths and 2,843 recoveries. --Ma. Angelica Garcia/KBK, GMA News
