Governor Jonvic Remulla of Cavite on Wednesday disclosed that 80% of COVID-19 cases in the province have been frequent visitors of National Capital Region (NCR) due to work or appointments.

In a Facebook post, Remulla said the total number of COVID-19 cases in the province is 502, with 195 recoveries and 36 deaths.

Noting that 90% of the fatalities in Cavite are senior citizens, Remulla reminded the elderly in the province to look after themselves and to stay at home to avoid getting infected with the disease.

Amid the increase of COVID-19 cases in the province, Remulla said more than 1,000 medical personnel have undergone targeted testing, in which 12 tested positive for COVID-19. He said police frontliners will also be tested starting next week.

Drinking alcohol

Meanwhile, Remulla also reminded residents about drinking alcohol amid the quarantine measures being enforced in the province.

He said policemen would have alcohol breath analyzers which will check the alcohol level among individuals. The governor warned the public that they could be arrested or fined if they don't have control in drinking alcohol.

—KBK, GMA News
