Parts of Pakil, Laguna placed under lockdown due to COVID-19 threat

Residents of Pakil, Laguna flocked to grocery stores to stock up on goods before a lockdown was imposed as part of measures to combat COVID-19, according to a report by James Agustin on GMA News' Unang Balita.

Pakil Mayor Vince Soriano announced on Facebook on Monday that Poblacion and Barangay Kabulusan are critical zones and will be under lockdown or enhanced community quarantine.

The lockdown for Poblacion will run from July 28 to August 11, while the one for Barangay Kabulusan will be from July 23 to August 6.

Soriano said affected families in the lockdown areas will be given family food packs by the local government.

 

Two doctors and six staff of the General Cailles Memorial District Hospital in Pakil tested positive for COVID-19.

The hospital was temporarily closed for disinfection.

As of July 27, at 3 p.m., the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakil was three.

For the whole province of Laguna, 2,425 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported.

Of this number, 1,123 recovered while 95 died.

 

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the whole country, meanwhile, reached 82,040 on Monday. Of this number, 26,446 recovered and 1,945 died. —KG, GMA News
