16 police officers in Caraga test positive for COVID-19

A total of 16 police officers in the Caraga region have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including one who had fully recovered from the infection.

According to a report on “24 Oras News Alert” on Tuesday, most of the police personnel who have contracted the illness were assigned to quarantine control points and beat patrols.

The police officers are now undergoing mandatory quarantine and monitoring.

Meanwhile, 27 more cops yielded positive results in the rapid test. They are also under monitoring while awaiting the results of the confirmatory test.

PNP Caraga Police chief Brigadier General Joselito Esquivel Jr. said said no police officer in their area has succumbed to COVID-19.

"We remind all our police personnel to ensure always preventive measures and health protocols like washing of hands, wearing of face shields and face masks, and taking vitamins to help boost their immune system,” he said in a press statement.—AOL, GMA News
